Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in database migration from on prem to AWS cloud
  • Maintain the Microsoft Windows-based database server software systems – currently Microsoft SQL Server 2012, 2016 and 2019 – including, but not limited to the following activities
  • Install and configure new instances of SQL Server, including provisions for HA like Availability Groups
  • Remain familiar with the configuration of each server and instance, and databases therein
  • Monitor and Apply applicable updates, service packs, hot fixes, upgrades, etc.
  • Work to continually improve and automate all processes, including DB installation, maintenance, backup, restore, and monitoring

  • Monitoring and Performance Tuning; Server Level, Database level (Database settings and options) and query tuning. (Creating and maintaining those Indexes, not performing database shrinking, memory settings, monitoring CPU usage and Disk I/O activity etc.,)
  • Monitor each server instance’s activity logs for errors and warnings
  • Resolve identified issues and report to management both severe issues and recurring issues
  • Monitor scheduled database jobs for successful completion
  • Develop, test, and implement additional database maintenance processes as necessary (replication, Encryption etc.,)

  • Plan, design and implement solutions keeping in mind current and future data storage and capacity needs
  • Plan, design, develop, manage and test database security, encryption, back-up and recovery plans
  • Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention
  • Migrate databases between server instances as necessary
  • Perform disaster recovery activities, such as database backups prior to application upgrades
  • As needed, assist team members in the development and troubleshooting of database objects, queries, scripts, and reports for reporting and maintaining data contained in the databases
  • Create new databases for applications developed internally
  • Follow established Change Management policies and procedures
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and communication regarding all activities in accordance with applicable IT and corporate policies and procedures

  • Should have good experience on migration or upgrades of SQL servers.
  • Working knowledge of ticketing tools like Salesforce, ServiceNow etc.,
  • Hands on experience in scripting like Python or PowerShell
  • Hands on experience in automating AWS infrastructure with Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Hands on experience in configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef or Puppet

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform product installation and updates (application and database)
  • Specific duties and responsibilities include improving the reliability and performance of Nextgen applications as well as increasing organizational throughput through automation improvements as we scale to handle new customers and faster feature development.
  • Manage AWS infrastructure and proactively action on alerts generated
  • Simplify implementations and upgrades. Collaborate with various R&D teams and client services teams across products
  • Experience and knowledge of database server systems (such as Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or later), database management (such as performance monitoring and improvement), database maintenance (such as disaster recovery), and database-related automated process development (such as Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services packages), as generally acquired by five or more years of experience, preferably within a healthcare-related environment
  • Experience with other database systems (such as Microsoft Access), data analysis concepts (such as pivot tables/charts, OLAP cubes, dashboards), and business intelligence-related development and end user applications (such as Microsoft Business Intelligence Development Studio, Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Server, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, Microsoft Office Excel, Cognos, and LogiXML) will also be helpful in the position
  • Deep technical knowledge/experience on SQL HA/DR solutions
  • Knows to detect & resolve issues related to CPU; Memory; I/O disk space etc., which indirectly necessitates strong OS knowledge
  • Practical experience troubleshooting performance problems, query tuning and optimization
  • Responsible for managing work requests, incidents or tickets assigned
  • Flexible to work in shifts (24/7) and provide on-call support during OOF

Education & Experience


  • Degree in Computer Science/Technology Degree
  • 4-6 years of experience in the Information Systems industry


  • MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Administration or higher
  • AWS CCP or any AWS Certification
